Facebook Marketing Principles That Will Set You Free
Facebook is one of those phenomenon online that the smart marketers can’t ignore. It’s currently the #3 rated website online according to Alexa.com, and in the last month it has been ranked #2 (as of September 2009, when this post was written), right behind Google. The fact is, that the there is not a hotter social trend on the whole internet, and you should be taking advantage of it as much as possible. My overall intention with this message is to warn about some mistakes that most people make, as well as give you a strategy that personally increases my sales by 200%.
First, I wanted to ask a question. What are most people using Facebook for? Simply put, I want you to understand that social networks are there to do one thing, and that’s to build relationships. There isn’t a person alive who just LOVES being annoyed to death by offers all day and night. I can’t even describe how irritating and demeaning this is to all of our businesses when someone decides they’re going to spam the universe with all of their information. (If that’s you, you need to stop it immediately.)
Your goal should be to improve the lives of the people around you, and that will automatically make the right people attracted to your business. If your goal is to benefit people and it comes across in your marketing, it’s fine to send out marketing messages on social networks, and it’s not annoying, either. It’s amazing, but if you focus more on the prosperity of others than you do on marketing your products, you’ll sell a lot more products, too.
This concept doesn’t just apply on Facebook, it also applies in life. Haven’t you been pestered by that annoying guy in Church, or in a business meeting who’s just out to get a sale? Well, I certainly have. This is both annoying and it gives the wrong message out. Who wants to recieve spammy messages on their wall on Facebook every day?
I want to be clear about the way I use this website. Facebook is not my main marketing strategy. What I do is I use Facebook to personally connect with the people who subscribe to my newsletters via my other marketing and promotional efforts. By performing the simple act of connecting with my subscribers, I sell twice as much product as I did from the same amount of people, because they relate to me on a more personal level. Isn’t that easy? All I do after that is just respond to people who send me messages. I don’t take too much time doing this, I just respond to all of my messages a couple of times per week.
It really boggles my mind how few people are using Facebook to connect with their customers. Using this simple technique, I’ve created a lot of great relationships, and made enough money to make it worth it. Try it, and let me know how it works!
Remember, just keep in mind the following principle and you’ll be ok. GIVE with no thought of return, and massive return will come your way. This simple law governs all successful, long term marketing online. I’ll see you on Facebook.
